Christian Family Camp (CFC) provides a wonderful opportunity for you to experience Christian Community. As a volunteer staff member, you can experience spiritual and personal growth and be blessed by the love, support, and affirmation of the Camp families. These blessings draw many of us back to CFC year after year. Although we experience the joys of camp, remember that as staff our primary role is one of Christian service to the families who come each week. The following list of staff responsibilities helps you understand what we expect of CFC staff members:
Staff members lead five 1.25-hour classes for a group of children based on the theme. We will provide resource materials and assistance to adapt to the age level you will be teaching, but you must spend time on daily lesson-plans to help them “come alive” for your group.
Staffers must assume responsibility for two or three other task areas as assigned (i.e. arts and crafts, campfire-builder, etc). We will consider your abilities and interests when we make assignments.
Staff members serve as part of a team that facilitates activities among a group of campers (or a group of families in one of the units, or the teens). Activities include (but aren’t limited to) helping the families unpack and acclimate to camp, planning Mass, and troubleshooting.
Everyone will participate in the staff orientation and team building prior to the start of camp and remain until camp officially closes.
Staffers must be willing to share living accommodations with other staff members. Separate accommodations are provided for male and female staff but there are few luxuries.
